Help with the Crowd employee app for Android. Most problems on this page are one of four things, and the first two are the common ones.

§ 01

Writing to us

Email emranhi001@gmail.com. There is no phone queue and no ticket portal to register for — a message to that address reaches a person.

Four things make an answer possible on the first reply:

  • Your workspace address — the one you sign in at, like yourcompany rather than just your company’s name.
  • The work email you sign in with. Never send us your password; we will not ask for it, and nobody who does is us.
  • What you did and what the app said, in its own words. A screenshot is ideal.
  • The reference code, if the app showed you an error screen carrying one. Crowd deliberately reports nothing about itself automatically, so that code is what lets us find your exact request in the logs instead of guessing.
§ 02

You cannot sign in

Crowd accounts are created by your employer. You cannot register one yourself and there is no sign-up screen. If you have never been given an account, the person to ask is whoever administers Crowd at your company — not us.

If you do have one, there are three ways in:

  • Sign in with your work email and password.
  • Use a one-time code — Crowd emails a six-digit code to your work address. Useful when the password is the problem. Codes are short-lived, and asking for a second one too quickly is refused for a short cooldown.
  • Forgot password — the same emailed code, followed by setting a new password. Finish it in one sitting: for safety the app does not resume a half-completed reset after it has been closed, so if you close it you start again rather than being stuck.

Three messages mean something specific rather than a fault:

  • “Email or password is incorrect” — one message covers a wrong password, an address with no account, and a suspended account, on purpose, so the app cannot be used to work out who has an account. If you are sure the password is right, ask your administrator whether your access is still active.
  • “Still being reviewed” — your company’s registration has not been approved yet. Nothing to do; it is on our side.
  • “Not approved” — the registration was declined, and the screen carries the reason given.

If your account exists in more than one company, Crowd asks which one you are signing in to. Picking one signs you in to that company only; sign out to move to the other.

§ 03

Attendance will not record

The check-in control refuses rather than failing silently, and the reason it gives is the thing to act on. In order of how often each happens:

  • Location permission is off. Android Settings → Apps → Crowd → Permissions → Location → Allow only while using the app. Crowd never needs the “all the time” setting and does not ask for it. The app will not send a check without a position, because one sent that way is recorded as a refusal against you.
  • You are outside the work site boundary. The distance is shown above the control before you touch it, so this is visible rather than a surprise. If you are certain you are at the right place, the boundary may be drawn too tightly — your administrator can adjust it.
  • The position is not accurate enough yet. Indoors and underground, a fix can take a moment or fail. Stepping outside or switching Wi-Fi on usually resolves it.
  • No network. Crowd has no offline mode: it tells you it cannot reach the server rather than pretending the check landed. Nothing is lost — record it again once you have signal.

Pressing the control twice never records twice. A retry after an outcome you did not see reuses the same attempt rather than starting a new one.

A check recorded at the wrong time, or one you could not record at all, is fixed by your employer: managers and administrators can correct an attendance record from the web app. Ask them before asking us — we cannot edit a company’s records for it.

§ 04

Notifications

Crowd notifies you about things that concern you — a report due, a submission reviewed. If nothing arrives, check Android Settings → Apps → Crowd → Notifications, and that you are signed in: signing out removes this handset from the devices your notifications reach, which is deliberate on a shared phone.

Everything that was sent to you is also in the app’s notifications tab, so a missed banner never means a missed message.

§ 05

Account and data deletion

Crowd does not offer account creation — your employer creates your account — and correspondingly it does not offer self-service account deletion, because the account and the records inside it are your employer’s employment records rather than yours to remove.

  • To have your access ended, ask your company’s Crowd administrator. Ending your membership removes your access to the workspace.
  • To ask us directly to see, correct, or delete the data we hold about you, email emranhi001@gmail.com from your work address with the subject Data request. We reply within 30 days.
  • What we will do. Where the data is ours to act on, we act. Where it is your employer’s employment record, we pass the request to them, act on their instruction, and tell you that we have — you will not be left without an answer.

The full detail, including what is kept and for how long, is in the Privacy Policy.

§ 06

For companies

If you are looking to run Crowd at your company rather than to use an account somebody gave you, register on the home page and we come back within one business day. Employees do not need to do anything until their workspace exists.

Administrators: attendance configuration, work sites, people, report forms and goals are all on the web app at your workspace address. Reports are filed there too. The Android app is the employee half — recording attendance and reading notifications.
